British MP denies new allegations of oil-for-food profiteering
25/10/2005 - 08:37:47British MP George Galloway is strongly denying fresh allegations that he profited from Saddam Hussein's oil-for-food programme.
A US Senate committee claims that eighty-five thousand pounds was found in his estranged wife's bank account which had come directly from the scheme, and they are now investigating the situation.
Speaking to senators earlier this year, George Galloway made it quite clear he hadn't done anything wrong.
He said “I am not now nor have I ever been an oil trader. I have never seen a barrel of oil, owned one, bought one and neither has anyone on my behalf.”
