Sinn Féin to meet British govt over theft allegations

Sinn Féin is due to meet the British government later today regarding the alleged theft of police documents in a high profile murder case.

They will discuss how a former senior detective admitted to taking police files in order to frustrate a police ombudsman’s inquiry, while he was being secretly filmed for a UTV documentary.

The SDLP is also due to outline its opposition to putting Community Restorative Justice schemes on an official footing, as they fear it will become a second policing tier in the North.

They want explicit guarantees that human rights will be observed under the scheme from British officials.
