Lawyers officially complain about du Plantier murder case

25/10/2005 - 08:18:31
Frank Buttimer, the solicitor acting for journalist Ian Bailey, has sent a letter to the Garda Commissioner complaining about the manner in which senior gardaí are handling a review of the West Cork murder case.

Mr Buttimer said he also sent a letter to the Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell.

The investigation concerns how a key witness was treated by gardaí during the investigation into the death of Sophie Toscan du Plantier near Schull, in December 1996.

Lawyers for the witness, Marie Farrell are also unhappy with how the new investigation is being carried out.

Both Ian Bailey and Marie Farrell have refused to talk to gardaí, after they called to their homes without prior notice.
