Dot.ie sites top 50,000

25/10/2005 - 14:49:30
Dot.ie internet domain registrations have now exceeded the 50,000 mark, according to the .IE Domain Registry (IEDR).

Ireland’s online development is now ranked ahead of many of our European neighbours.

The number of dot.ie addresses per head of population has surpassed the registration of the national top-level domain names of Spain (.es), France (.fr), Italy (.it), Greece (.gr), Portugal (.pt), Finland (.fi) and Belgium (.be).

The 50,000th dot.ie registered domain was www.findatradesman.ie. The website was established by Anthony Burke from Athenry, Co Galway, who developed this site to help people locate tradesmen from different disciplines in their local area.

As the 50,000th registrant, Mr Burke will have free dot.ie domain registration for 10 years.
