24/10/2005 - 08:14:33Heavy rain has caused the abandonment of this afternoon’s meeting at Leicester.
After 18mm of rain had fallen overnight, an inspection was called for 7.45am, bringing bad news.
Clerk of the course Jimmy Stevenson said: “We have just abandoned. We are waterlogged in the dips. There is an area between the three and four furlong markers we are not happy with – it’s false ground. We’ve had 21mm of rain and it’s still raining.”
