Judge Curtin mounts Supreme Court challenge

Judge Brian Curtin has mounted a Supreme Court bid to stop an Oireachtas committee from inquiring into how he came to be charged with possession of child pornography.

He also wants the committee to be denied access to his computer.

The High Court has previously ruled that the setting up of the committee and its operational strategy is constitutional.

In April 2004, Judge Curtin, a circuit court judge, was cleared of possessing child pornography after a ruling that evidence found on his computer could not be admitted in court, because the computer was seized using an out-of-date warrant.
