Dismantling of Derry watchtower to be completed today
24/10/2005 - 09:29:21The British Army is due to complete the dismantling of the main watchtower on Derry city walls later today.
The so-called Masonic Tower overlooks the bogside and has been opposed by nationalists for many years.
Work began in August to remove the tower and will be completed today as part of the continuing demilitarisation process after IRA decommissioning.
