Woods misses cut at Disney World
Tiger Woods missed his second cut of the year – and only his second since 1998 - after bogeying one of his final two holes on the resumption of his rain-hit round at the Funai Classic at Disney World in Florida.
The world number one’s second round was cut short yesterday at the 17th when a thunderstorm rolled in to Kissimmee, near his home city of Orlando, with him four under.
He resumed today needing to birdie his last two holes to stand any chance of making the cut, which fell at six under, but a five at the par-four penultimate hole ended his hopes.
Two bad holes took their toll on Woods on the Magnolia course yesterday, a triple-bogey at the par-four fifth and a double-bogey at the par-three 12th, the first time he had recorded a double and triple in the same round since the 2000 Masters.
The only consolation for Woods was that Vijay Singh also missed the cut, meaning the American reclaimed the PGA Tour money list title.
In May, Woods – the 2005 Masters and Open champion – missed the cut at the Byron Nelson Championship, ending a record streak of 142 consecutive events in the money on the PGA Tour.
