Clontarf lost ground on the Division One leaders as UL Bohemians came from behind to snatch a valuable 29-28 win at Castle Avenue.

'Tarf led 23-14 at half-time, and 16-0 in the early stages as the north Dubliners' pack ruled the roost.

Former Ireland Under-19 winger Marc Hewitt grabbed a brace of tries, allied to two penalties from Peter O'Brien, to help 'Tarf's young side push ahead.

Critically they sat back then and allowed Ryan Hartigan and Bohs' Aussie fly half Ben Martin (36) nip in for tries before the break.

'Tarf sandwiched their third try from O'Brien in before the half-time whistle.

A fired-up Bohs side came out for the second half and hit the home side with an early drop goal from Fergal Lawlor and try from centre Martin McPhail, which Lawlor added the extras to for a 24-23 lead.

Derek Keane, a hat-trick hero against Trinity last week, touched down on 71 minutes for 'Tarf to peg Bohs back.

O'Brien failed to add the conversion, and it proved crucial at the finish as five minutes from full-time, McPhail took the ball on his own ten-metre line and beat three defenders to grab the match-winning try.

Lawlor screwed the conversion wide, but the Limerick students held on.
