Harlequins get past Co Carlow for points
County Carlow 19 Belfast Harlequins 28
Belfast Harlequins won ugly at Oak Park as seven penalties and a single try from Paul McKenzie saw them defeat County Carlow 28-19.
Andy Ward's side, 30-13 losers to Garryowen last week, came south with nothing but a win on their minds, and that's how this Division One tie played out.
'Quins had the points in the bag by the interval, leading 22-9.
Former Ireland Under-21 McKenzie slalomed through a couple of would-be tacklers to touch down on the half-hour.
Michael Glancy converted and five penalties - the first from Johnny McClaughlin and rest from recent signing Glancy - saw the visitors in command.
Greg Jacob kept the midlanders in contention with three penalties of his own.
A listless second half saw Carlow hooker Alan Galavan muscle over for a converted try, but Glancy hit his fifth and sixth penalties to rise 'Quins up to tenth.
