False passport scam: Man to be extradited
20/10/2005 - 12:10:30The High Court has cleared the way for the extradition of a 50-year-old man who is alleged to have been involved in a false passport scam, involving the use of dead babies' birth certificates.
The man, from Blackrock in Dublin, has been trying to fight his extradition to the UK authorities in the last few months.
His lawyers claimed there was no corresponding offence of conspiracy to defraud when the European arrest warrant was issued.
But the High Court ruled that the man be committed to Cloverhill prison for 15 days, after which time he should be surrendered to British authorities.
Mr Fallon and another man are accused of advertising false passports for sale in Britain between September 1998 and October 1999.
