Henman beaten in Madrid

19/10/2005 - 14:50:27
Tim Henman crashed out of the second round of the Madrid Masters against Radek Stepanek.

The British number one was beaten 6-4 1-6 6-3 to continue his record of never having got past the second round in four appearances in the Spanish capital.

Henman missed countless chances to win the first set, before running away with the second and then allowing Stepanek to control the third.

Henman went into the match with a conflicting record against Stepanek.

He had won four of their five previous meetings, but the single defeat came just last week as the Czech dumped him out of the second round in Vienna.
