Conran names Leinster hurling squad

19/10/2005 - 02:38:25
Leinster manager John Conran has named his squad for Sunday's Martin Donnelly Interprovincial hurling semi-final against Connacht in Loughrea (throw-in 1.45pm).

The former Wexford supremo has included six players from his native county - Damien Fitzhenry, Darragh Ryan, Declan Ruth, Mitch Jordan, Adrian Fenlon and David 'Doc' O'Connor.

Last season's National League and Leinster SHC champions Kilkenny have ten players on the 23-man provincial panel, including 2005 All-Star nominees Richie Mullally and Tommy Walsh.

The performances of Carlow half-back Shane Kavanagh, who helped the Barrowsiders to a place in the Christy Ring Cup semi-finals, and Kilmessan man Stephen Clynch, who has played in a multitude of positions for the Meath Under-21s and seniors in recent seasons, have also been noted by inclusions.

Connacht won last year's Interpro title - their first since 1999 - by beating Munster 1-15 to 0-9. The winners of this Sunday's semi-final clash will face either Munster or Ulster in the November 6 final in Boston.

LEINSTER: R Mullally, M Comerford, JJ Delaney, J Ryall, R Power, T Walsh, E Brennan, J McGarry, J Hoyne, J Tennyson (Kilkenny), D Fitzhenry, D Ryan, D Ruth, M Jordan, A Fenlon, D O'Connor (Wexford), R Hanniffy, G Hanniffy, B Murphy, B Carroll (Offaly), J Young (Laois), S Clynch (Meath), S Kavanagh (Carlow).
