Roeg to make film in Armagh-Monaghan border

19/10/2005 - 13:33:26
Legendary film director Nicolas Roeg is set to film the Fay Weldon novel Puffball early next year along the Armagh-Monaghan border … and he’s being joined by top Hollywood stars, Donald Sutherland and Samantha Morton.

The €4m film will be produced by Michael Garland’s Dublin-based Grand Pictures and Weldon’s son Dan, who has written the screenplay.

Says Garland of the film he describes as a tense supernatural thriller: “It’s terrific to be working with the legend that is Nic Roeg and the cast we have assembled for Puffball is fantastic. Audiences will respond to this film when it’s released at the end of 2006.”

Roeg will be joined by Belfast-born cinematographer Baz Irvine and in the meantime Grand Pictures is looking further ahead with plans for another feature film – Kill Kill Faster Faster – which The Sopranos star James Gandolfini could head up.
