New Landsdowne stadium €70m over budget
17/10/2005 - 12:00:10The new Landsdowne Road Stadium is going to cost €70m more than the original estimate.
The Minister for Sport announced today at the unveiling of the new plans that the 50 thousand all-seater stadium will now cost €365m.
Despite this, John O’Donoghue said no extra Government funding is being promised.
The Football Association of Ireland, the Irish Rugby Football Union, the Government and the EU are all partially funding the scheme.
The original football stadium is due to be demolished in about a year’s time and it’s expected that the new venue will be completed sometime in 2008.
