Duo appeal against dismissals
17/10/2005 - 12:47:02Blackburn and Bolton have presented wrongful dismissal claims to the Football Association following the red cards handed to Zurab Khizanishvili and Ricardo Gardner at the weekend.
Rovers’ claim refers to the red card shown to Khizanishvili for ’denial of an obvious goal scoring opportunity’ during Saturday’s match against Liverpool when he tripped Djibril Cisse on the edge of the penalty area.
Bolton have submitted a claim following the sending-off of Gardner against Chelsea on Saturday, again for ‘denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity’.
Gardner thrust his arm into the air to divert the ball as it headed for Michael Essien, who was looking to run through on goal.
A disciplinary commission will hear the claims tomorrow.
