Youth arrested following Derry City attack

A man in 30s is in a serious condition in hospital in the North following a brutal assault earlier this morning.

He was attacked by a gang of youths while walking home with his sister in Derry city at about 4am.

The group, in their teens and early twenties knocked him to the ground and jumped on his head repeatedly.

The victim’s sister was punched in the face several times.

Police have arrested one youth in connection with the attack.
