Allen to stay on as Cork hurling boss

14/10/2005 - 15:10:48
John Allen has committed himself to Cork for another season.

Allen, who took time off to consider his future after Cork’s All-Ireland win, has found the chance of winning three-in-a-row too much too resist.

“Yes, I’m staying on. One year is hardly enough time and after thoroughly enjoying last season I want to remain in charge,” he told The Evening Echo.

While the final make up of his selection committee will depend on the outcome of Sunday’s County final, Allen has said that he would hope to see the management team back en bloc for the season ahead.

“I would prefer to see us all back because we had such a good relationship last year and worked well together.

“That is my preference, but we will wait and see.”

“I would be loath to say this to kids, but at this level winning is everything and what was so enjoyable was that we won every important game we played this year.

“I hugely enjoyed it and the lure of going for the three-in-a-row is too great to turn down.”
