Zurawski misses Hearts clash

13/10/2005 - 18:51:23
Celtic manager Gordon Strachan has confirmed Maciej Zurawski will miss Saturday’s Bank of Scotland Premier League clash with leaders Hearts at Parkhead.

The in-form Polish international striker, who has scored five goals in his last five starts for the improving Glasgow giants, hobbled out of his side’s defeat to England with what looked like a hamstring injury.

The 29-year-old has definitely been ruled out of this weekend’s showdown with the Edinburgh outfit and Strachan fears he could be looking at a long spell on the sidelines.

“He’ll not play on Saturday,” said the Celtic boss.

“He is going to see a specialist today and we’ll have a better indication as to how long he’ll be out then.”

Strachan is also hoping for encouraging news on another pole, Artur Boruc.

The former Southampton and Coventry boss wants the Pole to make his on-loan move, until the end of the season, permanent and show him some loyalty for bringing him to Britain.

Arsenal are one of a number of clubs believed to be interested in the 25-year-old Legia Warsaw goalkeeper.

But Strachan said: “I always thought we would have to offer him a new contract and I am not going back on my word.

“Once he was established in the side I said we would talk about a new contract, which we are doing.

“He is on a good run of seven or eight games and we will keep working and speaking to Artur.

“I went to see him and I didn’t see too many managers clambering over from Britain to watch him.

“We may not be thanked for putting our necks on the line but I hope he looks at that.”
