13/10/2005 - 15:33:54
The experienced Irish hockey trio of striker Gordon Elliott and goalkeepers Wes Bateman and Nigel Henderson have all announced their international retirements.

All three were members of the squad that won gold in the second-tier European Nations Trophy in Rome last month.

Henderson, 37, made his debut 18 years ago and won 63 caps, with fellow keeper Bateman making 40 appearances and Elliott 59 since 1998.

Assistant coach David Scott has also announced his retirement.

Ireland play England in a one-off Test in Nottingham next week.
