Strachan talks down Hearts clash
Celtic manager Gordon Strachan predicts there will be much bigger games throughout the season than this weekend’s Bank of Scotland top-of-the-table clash with leaders Hearts.
The Scot is refusing to get caught up in the pre-match hype he believes is being generated by an excitable media.
But he cannot ignore the fact that he could take Celtic to the top of the table for the first time on Saturday and bring the unbeaten Edinburgh outfit down a peg or two.
Strachan is looking at the bigger picture and believes this game might have no bearing on what happens in May.
He said: “There will be a lot more bigger games that will be beneficial to everybody especially the press.
“You build it up but there will be even bigger games. This is one of the many in the season.
“You don’t realise how big the games are until the end of the season.
“It would be a great result for us but it won’t change the season. I am looking forward to it.”
Strachan is a big fan of Hearts midfielder Paul Hartley and he did not need to see his wonder strike for Scotland in Slovenia in midweek to prove the point.
“He didn’t need to score goals to emphasise that,” said Strachan.
“He has been absolutely magnificent as have Hearts’ other international players.”
Hearts will be without Scotland number one Craig Gordon after being dismissed in the draw with Falkirk.
