FAI 'consider implications'

13/10/2005 - 11:56:58
Football Association of Ireland officials will “consider the implications” of Brian Kerr’s side failing to reach the World Cup finals in Germany next summer.

Following a goalless draw against Switzerland yesterday at Lansdowne Road, Kerr’s men missed out on the second-placed finish in Group Four needed for a play-off.

A statement from the FAI read: “The board of the FAI will now consider the implications of non-qualification and assess all the issues in respect of the senior international team with a view to achieving success in future European Championship and World Cup campaigns and growing the game throughout the country.”
