ISEQ down almost 80, Elan performing well

The ISEQ closed down 77.94 points this afternoon as most of the top shares posted losses.

It was, however, a good day for Elan, which gained 20c (3.2%) to €6.53.

Food and beverage company C&C lost 18c (3.2%) to finish the day at €5.45.

Anglo Irish Bank was the day’s busiest share, and finished down 30c (2.6%) at €11.30. AIB closed down 28c (1.6%) at €17.17, Bank of Ireland was down 20c (1.5%) at €12.75, while Irish Life and Permanent dropped 10c to €15.00.

FBD finished the day up 20c at €33.00.

Ryanair fell 10c (1.5%) to €6.70.

Jurys Doyle was unchanged from its starting price of €19.10. It was reported today that Sean Dunne is planning to challenge the Doyle family for control of the hotel group, and also that businessman Paschal Taggart has bought up to 1.6% of the group’s shares.
