Convoy bodyguards wounded in Iraqi suicide bombing

12/10/2005 - 08:04:28
A suicide car bomb hit a convoy of government cars in Baghdad today, seriously wounding four bodyguards of a government minister.

The attack occurred as the convoy was heading to a government buildin to pick up Saad Naif Al-Hardan, Iraq’s minister for provincial affairs, and the suicide bomber probably thought Al-Hardan was in one of the vehicles, said police Capt. Qassim Hussein.

The blast, which occurred in western Baghdad near Kahtan Square at 8am local time, damaged three cars in the convoy.

The four wounded bodyguards were taken to nearby Yamouk Hospital, Hussein said.
