Daly remains as Banner boss for another year
Former captain Anthony Daly's tenure as Clare senior hurling manager was officially extended at last night's county board meeting in Ennis.
The Clarecastle man, who skippered Clare to All-Ireland wins in 1995 and 1997 and won All-Star honours in 1994, 1995 and 1998, will have at least another 12 months at the helm.
Daly replaced Cyril Lyons as manager in October 2003.
2005 was an encouraging for Daly and his backroom staff.
The Bannermen had would-be champions Cork on the ropes in August's All-Ireland semi-final only to lose agonisingly by a point.
An eleven-point quarter-final win over Wexford, coupled with qualifier victories against Dublin, Offaly and Waterford, certainly boosted Clare's championship credentials this past season.
They also made the National League final before losing to Kilkenny in May.
Daly's outgoing selectors Fr Harry Bohan, himself a former manager, Alan Cunningham and Johnny Glynn, who also acts as the team trainer, are remaining on for 2006.
So too is veteran defender Brian Lohan.
The 32-year-old Ennis auctioneer, who showed against Cork that he has lost none of his drive and hunger at full-back, has confirmed his availability for next season - his 14th year, in all, as a senior inter-county hurler.
