Beckham back on Real duty
England captain David Beckham took part in a six-man training session with Real Madrid today after the Spanish club recalled him early from international duty.
Beckham’s red card against Austria on Saturday meant he was suspended for tonight’s game with Poland but he was expected to stay with the England squad and watch from the Old Trafford stands.
Instead Beckham flew back to Madrid last night in accordance with his club’s request.
Thomas Gravesen and Michel Salgado were also back with Madrid, having also picked up international suspensions at the weekend, but besides Beckham, Salgado was the only player involved who is likely to start this weekend’s derby against Atletico.
The six-man group carried out a session with ball work and sprinting, finishing with a game of three versus three.
