Dublin-Liverpool fast ferry service closes down

The Dublin to Liverpool high-speed ferry service has been axed with the loss of a 150 jobs.

Staff on the Irish Sea Express were told today that the service was losing nearly a €150,000 a week, mainly because of rising fuel costs.

Just two days ago a reduction to five sailings a week was announced.

Norse Merchant Ferries will continue to operate sailings from Birkenhead to Dublin and Belfast.
