Two changes for Ireland U-21s

11/10/2005 - 19:58:16
Republic of Ireland Under-21 manager Don Givens made two changes for his side’s final European Championship qualifying match against Switzerland at Tolka Park tonight.

Keith Keane, who made his debut in Friday’s 1-1 draw against Cyprus in Larnaca but was forced to withdraw with a calf strain just before half-time, was replaced at right-back by Derry City’s Kevin Deery.

Sheffield Wednesday’s Glenn Whelan partners Bolton’s Joe O’Brien in the centre of midfield in the absence of the suspended Darren Potter of Liverpool.

With Ireland’s hopes of qualifying long having evaporated, Givens’ side will be hoping to end their eight-match winless run.
