Bull strikes for Fallon

11/10/2005 - 14:45:29
Papal Bull struck first blood for punters by landing the odds in good style in the opening race at Leicester.

Kieren Fallon made all the running on the son of Montjeu, who was making it third time lucky in division one of the EBF ladbrokes.com Reference Point Maiden Stakes.

From the moment Fallon grabbed the stands side rail, he had the race in complete control and the 8-13 shot easily saw off the opposition.

Michael Stoute’s two-year-old won cosily by two lengths from Cousteau, with Bandama a length and a quarter away in third.

“He’s nice horse and Kieren likes him. His two previous runs set him in good stead and he had the rail to help him,” said Stoute’s travelling head lad Jimmy Scott.

“He hung his head to one side but that’s just the way he is. I thought he lengthened well. Once he met the rising ground he’s come home nicely.”
