Govt considering 30% rise in child benefit for under-fives
10/10/2005 - 07:34:25The Government is reportedly considering an increase of up to 30% in child benefit payments for children under the age of five.
Reports this morning said the measure was among a range of proposals aimed at easing the financial burden of childcare that were being examined by the Fianna Fáil-Progressive Democrats coalition ahead of December's budget.
The other measures under consideration reportedly include childcare-related tax relief, improved parental leave entitlements and a subsidised pre-school scheme.
