King George hero Doyen retired
06/10/2005 - 07:38:48Doyen, last year’s brilliant winner of the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes, has been retired to Darley’s Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket.
Godolphin’s five-year-old romped home by three-lengths in the mid-summer showpiece 15 months ago but has failed to make the frame in his five subsequent starts.
“Doyen was a star last year, one of the best Godolphin horses,” trainer Saeed bin Suroor told www.godolphin.com.
“He was the impressive winner of both the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes and the Hardwicke Stakes at Ascot – when he broke the track record in the Hardwicke, he was on the bridle all of the way.”
