CORI says Ireland must plan ahead for population growth
04/10/2005 - 08:13:14The body representing Ireland's religious congregations has said the country must begin planning to cope with population growth over the next 25 years.
The Conference of Religious of Ireland said many people would fail to benefit from future economic growth unless proper plans were made to deal with population increases.
The Central Statistics Office has predicted that Ireland's population will increase to around 5.5 million by 2030, with non-nationals accounting for one-fifth of the figure.
