TV channel brings multi-language news to Irish homes
A European television news channel began broadcasting in seven different languages to homes throughout Ireland today.
The 24-hour a day station, EuroNews, which is available on the NTL Digital platform, is available in seven languages including English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
Mark Mohan, sales and marketing director of NTL Ireland, said: “There is an increasing interest from our customers for additional quality multilingual channels.
“Today’s announcement addresses just that demand with the inclusion of all seven EuroNews channels in our digital line-up. Anyone with an interest in French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese or Russian languages and anyone with an interest in news with a European perspective will benefit from EuroNews on NTL digital.”
EuroNews, which was launched in 1993, broadcasts simultaneously in seven languages on different channels to over four million viewers.
Every 30 minutes the station provides a bulletin containing the day’s news, sport and business stories from a European perspective.
The station is available through the seven languages on NTL’s digital television service.
Justin Davison, international sales director of EuroNews Sales London, said: “I am delighted that EuroNews has expanded in this strategically important region to approximately 100,000 NTL Ireland digital homes.
“EuroNews offers a unique service simultaneously broadcasting in seven languages and serves to plug a news gap complementing Anglo-American news services with a blend of world news and current affairs from a highly relevant European perspective.”
