McDonald's puts spotlight on nutrition
Hamburger restaurant chain McDonald’s plans to display nutrition information on some food packs, it confirmed today.
It is looking at ways of showing products’ calorie, salt, sugar and fat content.
Currently it is assessing customer feedback on several different systems.
The nutritional information would help people make “informed choices” about which food and drink to buy, a McDonald’s spokeswoman said.
The chain already gives some nutrition information on the back of tray liners, on its website and on leaflets available in its restaurants.
It is now considering adding icons or graphics on to some food packaging.
“We are looking at concepts with regards helping our customers make informed choices and improving the way we provide that information,” the spokeswoman said.
McDonald’s first started providing nutrition information to customers 21 years ago.
