Hauliers criticise Ahern's call for 'super trucks' ban
30/09/2005 - 10:44:03The Irish Road Haulage Association has criticised the Taoiseach's call for "super trucks" to be banned from Ireland.
Bertie Ahern said yesterday that the trucks should not be allowed into the country because they are too big for the Dublin Port Tunnel.
However, IRHA spokesman Jimmy Quinn accused him today of being out of touch with reality.
Mr Quinn said the use of "super trucks" was more economical and environmentally-friendly and should be encouraged rather than disparaged by the Irish Government.
