€25m housing scheme to be unveiled
A flagship €25m housing scheme which aims to improve community living in Dublin is being officially unveiled today by Minister of State for Housing, Noel Ahern.
The development on James Street, Dublin, consists of 92 apartments of different sizes, which cater for single people, families and the elderly.
The project is run by Oaklee Housing Trust, which was initiated by Oaklee Housing Association, a Northern Ireland voluntary housing association with 25 years experience of providing social housing.
Of the 92 apartments spread over three blocks, 14 are being managed by homeless charity Focus Ireland.
The Oaklee Housing Trust worked closely with Dublin City Council and the Department for the Environment on the €25.4m project.
In addition, Vodafone Ireland Foundation provided €20,000 for the decoration costs of the 14 apartments run by Focus Ireland.
Former TD and chairman of the Oaklee Housing Trust Paddy Harte said he was delighted to be associated with such a wonderful community development.
“The housing scheme is one of three developments completed by Oaklee Housing Trust this year, and we look forward to continuing with our development plan to contribute to the social housing need in Ireland.
“The Board of Oaklee welcomes any opportunity to contribute to regeneration by way of quality housing for local people,” he said.
