CSO reports 3.1% GNP growth in 12 months to June
30/09/2005 - 12:44:22The Central Statistics Office has reported economic growth of 3.1% in the final six months of last year and the first half of this year.
The CSO said today that GNP had increased by 3.1% over the 12-month period, while GDP had increased by 4.1%.
GNP is regarded as a more accurate indicator of Irish economic growth as it excludes the profits of foreign-owned businesses.
Elsewhere, the State's statistics agency said the volume of goods and services bought in Ireland increased by 4.7% over the same period, while capital investment was up by 11.4% and industrial output by 2.3%.
However, it said the value of Ireland's net exports in the second quarter of this year was €133m lower than in the same period last year.
