Boussac go-ahead for Lady
Confidential Lady will go for the Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp on Sunday after a pleasing workout this morning.
Although an unsatisfactory scope ruled the Singspiel filly out of the May Hill Stakes, Mark Prescott’s charge is firing on all cylinders again.
Prescott had hoped to have the two-year-old back in time for last Saturday’s Meon Valley Stud Fillies’ Mile, but she will instead take her chance in the Group One feature on Arc day.
“I spoke to Sir Mark this morning and he assured me she is in good form after a good outing this morning,” said Chris Richardson, managing director to owners the Cheveley Park Stud.
“She has shown no ill-effects after the first setback [missing out on the May Hill Park Stakes] so we are on course for France on Sunday.”
Confidential Lady, who will be ridden by Jean-Bernard Eyquem, has won four of her six starts, notching up a hat-trick in June and July before just coming off second best to Nasheej in the Sweet Solera Stakes.
She bounced back by taking the Group Three Prix du Calvados in impressive style at Deauville last time – when partnered by Eyquem – but will be stepping up to a mile for the first time in her career on Sunday.
“The trip in the Boussac should not be problem because she is a very flexible filly who has lots of stamina,” added Richardson.
Meanwhile, John Gosden’s Nannina, who is also owned by the Cheveley Park team, will not race again this season following her short-head victory in the Fillies’ Mile.
“She is in good order but will be put away over the winter months to reflect on what she has achieved in such short a space a time,” said Richardson.
