Study finds high cholesterol more common among women

High cholesterol and blood pressure are more prevalent among Irish women than Irish men, according to a study commissioned by drug firm Pfizer.

Four hundred people were screened at 27 locations throughout the country as part of the research.

Almost half were found to have higher-than-recommended cholesterol levels, while 29% had high blood pressure.

The two ailments were found to be more common among the women tested.
