Govt accused of failing to protect human rights in Ireland

Amnesty International has accused the Government of failing to fully protect the human rights of Irish citizens.

In a report published today, the organisation said Ireland was breaching its international obligations by failing to incorporate treaties recognising people's economic, social and cultural rights.

It also said the Government's failure to adopt core human rights principles in many of its policies had resulted in further marginalisation of disadvantaged and vulnerable people.
