Elan, IL&P help ISEQ make gain
The ISEQ gained 12.73 points this morning to stand at 6738.0 at 10.30am.
Elan made the morning’s biggest increase, up 30c (4.6%) to €6.90. The pharmaceutical and its partner Biogen Idec announced that they have submitted a license application for controversial multiple-sclerosis drug Tysabri to the USFDA.
Irish Life and Permanent was up 15c (1%) at €15.05. AIB dropped 9c to €17.65, while Anglo Irish Bank gained 3c to €11.25.
Bank of Ireland remained at €12.95. In a trading statement issued today, the bank predicted underlying eps for the half-year to September 30 to grow by around 9%.
Jurys Doyle Hotels was up 5c at €18.60 ahead of today’s EGM.
CRH was the morning’s busiest share, but was unchanged at €22.30. Grafton was also steady at €8.60.
Irish Continental was unchanged at €9.70. Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin is reportedly seeking legal advice in an effort to avoid footing some of the redundancy bill faced by Irish Ferries.
