Newmarket: No confirmation yet on Flashy Wings
Flashy Wings is yet to be confirmed on course for the Sky Bet Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday.
The Mick Channon-trained Queen Mary and Lowther Stakes winner lost her unbeaten record when second in the Watership Down Stud Sales Race at Newbury earlier this month.
However, no firm decision has yet been reached about her participation in the Group One contest.
Joe Mercer, racing manager to owner Jaber Abdullah, said: “I have no idea yet whether she’s going to run. It’s all up to the owner.
“The weather can change and the forecast is for rain coming in, which is a pity, because she wouldn’t want it soft.
“I suppose they’ll make a decision on Wednesday when they’ve see the weather forecast.”
Reflecting on the Newbury race, in which she was beaten a neck by Expensive, Mercer added: “I thought she ran a blinder. She was just unfortunately left on her own up the middle with two and a half to go.
“She likes to have something to race at and she was just left in front. She was just idling and that’s all she did wrong, the other one just swooped on her the last 30 or 40 yards.”
