Ministers to seek agreement on 10-year transport plan
26/09/2005 - 08:18:05The Ministers for Transport and Finance are reportedly due to meet in the coming weeks to try to reach agreement on the Government's proposed 10-year transport plan.
The plan was announced by Transport Minister Martin Cullen in November, but Department of Finance officials reportedly expressed reservations about some of its contents.
Reports this morning said the department was particularly concerned about expensive new rail links in Dublin, including the metro link planned for the city's airport.
Finance officials are concerned that the cost of such projects may have been underestimated, as happened with the capital's motorway programme, the Dublin Port Tunnel and the LUAS tram system.
