Bayern run ends at Hamburg
Bayern Munich’s 15-match winning streak in the Bundesliga came to an end today as they went down 2-0 at Hamburg, who themselves are unbeaten in 17 matches in all competitions this season.
Goals from Rafael van der Vaart and Piotr Trochowski, a Bayern old boy, saw the Munich club taste defeat for the first time in six months – they remain at the top but have seen Hamburg trim their lead to a single point.
A point further back are Werder Bremen who beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 to end Rudi Voller’s 100% record since replacing the sacked Klaus Augenthaler on an interim basis.
Schalke climbed to fourth with a 2-0 win at home to Hannover with Lincoln and Kevin Kuranyi supplying the goals.
Borussia Monchengladbach won 2-0 at Arminia Bielefeld while a stoppage-time goal from Christoph Metzelder earned Borussia Dortmund a 1-1 draw at Mainz.
Nurnberg boss Wolfgang Wolf’s job prospects look bleak after a 1-0 defeat at Duisburg, while Wolf’s former club Wolfsburg won 1-0 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt.
