Prescott has Redcar in mind

23/09/2005 - 17:36:26
Mark Prescott is targeting Redcar’s valuable totepool Two-Year-Old Trophy with recent Ayr winner Violette.

The Observatory filly completed a hat-trick when taking the Group Three Firth of Clyde Stakes in impressive style at the Scottish track last week.

That win followed on from successes at Doncaster and Hamilton, and Prescott has got his eyes firmly fixed on the October 1 event which boasts minimum prize money of £150,000.

“She won that race (at Ayr) which was marvellous for her and her breeders. That was just what they wanted,” Prescott told At The Races.

“She’s come on very, very well in the second half of the season and she will probably run in the Redcar race over six, for which she will be probably be third favourite behind a couple of Richard Hannon’s!

“It’s worth a lot of money and if she ran well in that you would try to give her one more shot over seven furlongs before the end of the season, either in France or maybe the Rockfel.

“I don’t think she would be good enough (for a Group One). I was very happy to win a Group Three.”
