Quinn memoirs come with Straight Left
Former Labour Party leader Ruairi Quinn will become the latest politician to publish his memoirs later today.
Straight Left charts the former Minister for Finance's early childhood in south Dublin to his rise to the top echelons of Irish politics.
After working as an architect, Mr Quinn’s passion for social justice brought him on to Dublin City Council and the Seanad before becoming a Dáil TD in 1977.
After several Government ministries in the 1980s his role as Director of Elections for Mary Robinson helped her become Ireland’s first female president in 1990.
He became Labour leader after Dick Spring’s 15-year reign ended in 1997 and he oversaw the merging with the Democratic Left party in 1999.
He was succeeded by Pat Rabbitte as leader in 2002.
The book will be launched in Leinster House later today.
