Rovers players still being paid 'a pittance'
Roddy Collins has criticised the Shamrock Rovers’ board for failing to back his side’s bid to beat the drop.
Collins is annoyed that some players he recently signed are still being paid a pittance as the club looks to survive both on and off the pitch.
"We’re looking at a really tough end to the season because some of the players have not been looked after by the new board," said Collins.
"When things were going well a few weeks back and the team climbed away from the foot of the table I asked the board to ensure that the lads without deals were facilitated.
"When results were good on the pitch then everything would be fine. But once we lost a game or two I knew there would be problems with morale."
Collins is angry that the club have failed to increase his budget in the last number of weeks which would allow him to play some of his players - on just €50 per week - extra money.
But Rovers made their entire squad free agents last July to cut the budget to a level that would ensure their financial survival for the rest of the season.
That target was met though Collins is now pushing for some of his players to be paid extra.
