Policing Board official injured in Derry pub assault

21/09/2005 - 07:18:43
The deputy chairman of the North's Policing Board was hospitalised earlier this week after being assaulted in a pub in the Brandywell area of Derry.

Dennis Bradley, a former priest, was attacked by a hooded man armed with a club at around 10pm on Tuesday night.

He suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital in the city, but is not believed to have been seriously hurt.

One man was arrested in connection with the assault, while police who attended the scene also came under attack from youths throwing petrol bombs and other missiles.

Mr Bradley has been the subject of threats and intimidation from dissident republicans ever since taking his position on the Policing Board.
