Israeli troops buried West Bank synagogue

Israeli troops buried a synagogue before they left the Jewish settlement of Sanur in the West Bank, the Defence Ministry said today.

The synagogue was covered with soil in an apparent attempt to prevent Palestinians from ransacking the building, as they did in abandoned Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip.

The synagogue was located in a dry riverbed, making its burial relatively easy, Israel Army Radio reported.

Palestinians entered Sanur today, after the army’s withdrawal.
