Dubawi firing ahead of QEII
Dubawi completed his preparations ahead of Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth II Stakes with a sparkling piece of work on the Newmarket gallops this morning.
The Irish 2000 Guineas winner had big-race jockey Frankie Dettori on board as he strode out over six furlongs on Racecourse side.
Godolphin trainer Saeed Bin Suroor confirmed: “Dubawi worked very well with Council Member. We are really happy with him – he’s in good form and ready to run.
“At the same time, we are looking for some rain just to keep the ground good or good to soft.”
Dubawi, who – all being well – will then go to America for the Breeders’ Cup Mile, is as short as 6-4 for the Group One on the Rowley Mile but Bin Suroor is aware his charge faces a real challenge up against the likes of Rakti and Starcraft.
He added: “It is a tough race and there are some good horses in it. But our horse has class and we know that last year he won in a Group One in Ireland, while this year he has won a Classic in Ireland also the Group One Prix Jacques le Marois.
“He is sound and healthy and it’s so far, so good with him.”
